The Three Switch Problem – Emma the pastry chef, known lover of mathematical puzzles and problems of logic after a long study decided to select the logical-gamesthe most beautiful mathematician of each time by proposing separately the relative solutions. These are questions and riddles that require both logical and creative skills to be solved. The perfect mathematical puzzle must propose a simple situation to explain and a solution just as easy to understand but very complicated to find, often at the limit of the impossible for an average mind.

A direct solution involves the use of sequential logic, solving the problem starting from the considerations that seem more obvious, lateral thinking departs from it (from which the lateral term) and seeks alternative points of view to seek the solution.

# THE THREE SWITCH PROBLEM

Emma looking at the young, handsome electrician who called to fix a short-circuit power outlet reminds her of that problem where outside of a closed room with no windows, there are three switches, one of which controls a lamp placed on a table inside the room; the three switches are all in the “OFF” position.

The problem then was that by staying out of the room and without the possibility of knowing what happens inside, you can operate the switches at will until you decide to enter. Once inside after 10 seconds we have to go out and indicate which of the three switches controls the bulb.
