Il concerto per pianoforte e orchestra…
ha origini antiche, evolvendosi parallelamente alla storia del pianoforte stesso. Nato nel Settecento come evoluzione dei concerti per clavicembalo, trova in Mozart uno dei suoi primi grandi interpreti e innovatori: basti pensare al suo uso dell’orchestra come interlocutore musicale paritario, non semplice accompagnamento. Con Beethoven il genere si arricchisce di profondità espressiva e tensione drammatica, aprendo la strada ai monumentali concerti romantici dell’Ottocento, come quelli di Brahms, Liszt, Grieg o Tchaikovsky.
Una curiosità: ci sono compositori che hanno scritto decine di concerti, oggi quasi sconosciuti al grande pubblico. Altri, come Schumann o Ravel, hanno firmato un solo concerto — ma indimenticabile. E ancora: esistono concerti per due, tre o anche quattro pianoforti!
The concerto for piano and orchestra…
has ancient origins, evolving in parallel with the history of the piano itself. Born in the 18th century as an evolution of harpsichord concertos, it found one of its first great interpreters and innovators in Mozart: just think of his use of the orchestra as an equal musical interlocutor, not simply an accompaniment. With Beethoven, the genre was enriched with expressive depth and dramatic tension, paving the way for the monumental Romantic concertos of the 19th century, such as those by Brahms, Liszt, Grieg and Tchaikovsky.
An interesting fact: there are composers who have written dozens of concertos, now almost unknown to the general public. Others, such as Schumann and Ravel, have written only one concerto — but an unforgettable one. And there are even concertos for two, three or even four pianos!
